- Develop pre-competitive technology for copper applications through R&D   projects at qualified organizations

- Maintain global R&D efforts while emphasizing commercialization in the   most appropriate geographic regions

- When possible, manage commercialization of R&D through venture   capital-like practices

- Leverage external funding and consortiums to amplify R&D and   accelerate commercialization
