SMART WIRED HOUSE TAKES OUT TOP ENVIRONMENTAL AWARD
The Smart Wired House took out the Enviro Power Smart Housing Award
at this year's Housing Industry Association's GreenSmart Building
Awards.
The Smart Wired House was launched by the NSW Government in February
as part of the PATHE GreenSmart Village in Kellyville, Sydney. This
most recent award coincides with the decision to build another display
home in Brisbane.
But the Smart Wired House has already put in an impressive year.
Having picked up the National Electrical Communication Association's
(NECA) Smart Wiring Award it has continued to attract extensive
media coverage around the country. At the same time the NECA developed
Smart Wiring training courses, as well as recent agreements with
leading builders, means that the Smart Wired options are now a reality.
"The Smart Wired House is a new approach to home wiring in the
21st century and its industry training program allows one trade
to install the cabling, saving energy and reducing greenhouse gas
emissions," John Fennell, CEO of the Copper Development Centre.
Australia, said in accepting the award. "It also provides the average
homeowner with all the energy efficient and lifestyle benefits of
technology now and in the future."
"It is great to see that the copper wiring system will not only
make our homes more connected and comfortable, but will also contribute
to the environment."
Notes to editors: The Smart Wired House at Kellyville was developed
in conjunction with Wesley Mission, Wincrest Homes and HIA. Partners
for that project included NECA, Clipsal, HPM, Krone, Pirelli, Universal
Technologies, Cisco, Belden and Telstra.
