If you visit to your local beer brewery, you will probably see large copper brew kettles and containers (called calandrias) where malt-based liquids are heated prior to fermentation in the beer brewing process.

And if you like the taste of bourbon whiskey, you'll be happy to know that the best bourbons are made in copper stills. The bourbon reacts with the copper to produce certain flavors and the desirable character of the whiskey.

Copper stills and heat exchangers are also used for other spirits and industrial alcohols.
