Did You Know?
The 5-million square foot (450,000 square meter), glass enclosed
self-sustaining environment in Arizona, USA, known as Biosphere
2 was built with 90 miles (144 kilometers) of copper wiring
and 5 miles (8 kilometers) of copper plumbing tube.
Copper was used in Biosphere 2's major solar energy systems
and in ten smaller solar energy hot water systems used in the
auxiliary building on the 3-acre (1.2 hectare) site. The Tissue
Culture Laboratory was heated by a copper-tube under-slab radiant
heating system using solar energy. |
