For indoor comfort, there's nothing like radiant heating. And
for reliability in radiant heating systems, there's nothing
like copper tubing.
Copper tubing is superior to its major competitor, cross-linked
polyethylene (PEX). Copper has a higher heat transfer rating
and is easy to install. PEX, which is a newer material on the
market, has not yet passed the test of time. Some installations
of PEX tubing have already developed disastrous leaks. Systems
made with rubber hose tubing are also prone to problems, such
as blackening and splitting, which cause failed installations.
Copper radiant heating systems are also preferred for outdoor
installations to melt snow on sloping driveways, sidewalks,
and pedestrian areas. |
